Professional profile

Amedeo manfrin is the head of the National Reference Laboratory for Crustacean Diseases, which is part of the Fish and Seafood Specialist Centre of the Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale delle Venezie. He is DVM and public health expert.  He has expertise in aquatic animal health and welfare, member of different national and international expert groups and lecturer at Italian universities.

His research activity particularly refers to aquatic animal health and welfare; use of  veterinary drugs and vaccines; surveillance and eradication plan according to WOAH/WHo listed diseases; fish, mollusc and crustacean zoonotic pathogens.

He is involved in the following ongoing activities, performed in collaboration with national and international Institutions: Flavobacteriaceae in European aquaculture; crayfish plague surveillance plan; use of vaccine in salmonid fish farming; new tolls for fish pathogen detection; welfare of farmed fish and new stunning and slaughtering techniques; organic aquaculture.
